Here is number six (finally!) of the seven continuous posts of new paintings. I don't do many still lifes unless you count florals, but even those are of still growing flowers and rarely floral arrangements in vases and such. This is what I consider a true still life piece. I don't know what to say about it other than it is an assortment of bowls and some fresh garlic recently purchased at the store. It is called simply "Fresh Garlic" (forgive me I am a painter not a writer). It is an oil on a 8"x16" RayMar panel and done with a very limited palette. Transparent Oxide Red, Ultramarine Blue, Cadmium Yellow Light and of course Titanium white. I hope you enjoy it.

Hi John, I'm really enjoying your recent posts. I love this still life. It has the honest simplicity that reminds me of Chardin.
Thank you Martin. It's been awhile since I have posted anything here and the entire blog has been pretty sporadic. I am trying to remedy that now, though.
I will be opening a new website very soon and hopefully that may help this blog attract more viewers. I hope so anyway.
Not to sound fatalistic, as I am not one to think that way, but I would like to have one more "Hurrah," so to speak with my work. Next birthday, I will be 76 and while my eye and hand coordination are still functioning well, I plan to do as many paintings as I can and of course selling them would be nice. LOL. So any help you might give me by spreading the word about this blog and my new website would be greatly appreciated.
Also you are likely to be seeing more still lifes and more florals and figurative pieces as it is getting harder for me to get out into the field. I will of course continue landscapes as much as I can, but studio work will be coming more common. Hope the world is treating you right!
